Stay Home Vs. Working Mom - Let's End The War!

Sometimes it can seem as though stay at home moms and working moms are battling against each
other. The truth is, there are lots of women who stay at home with their children, and there are
some moms who work. The other truth is, one of them is not better than the other. As moms, we all
love our children, and we all want them to be happy. There are many advantages and disadvantages
to both staying at home, and working outside of the home.
Staying at home with your children is great because you are able to be with them all day. You are
able to bond more with your children, and instill more of your values and what you feel is
important into your children. It also gives you a great feeling to be able to be with your
children all the time. However, staying home with your children can also make them more dependent
on you than most other children are toward their moms. It can make them fear leaving you, whether
you're leaving them at school, or with the babysitter for a night off. The disadvantages to you
are being on call all the time. It can make you feel like you want to tear your hair out! Also,
although you have one of the hardest jobs, you're not actually bringing in an income. Although,
today many moms are working over the internet, or with home businesses.
Mothers who work outside the home get their chance to be someone else other than 'mom.' They can
concentrate on what they are trying to do much better than a mother who works at home. The only
'kids' they have in their hair are the ones they work with! Also, being away from your children
more will foster a greater sense of independence in them. Disadvantages to working outside the
home are obvious. You don't get as much time to spend with your children, and this can make you
feel guilty or neglectful. Also, you have to know that whoever may be your children's caretakers
will have an impact on what your children grow to believe.
Whether we work outside the home, or stay at home with our kids, we are all mothers. We all want
the same things for our children. Happiness, opportunities, and we want to give them all we can.
Being a mother is hard enough today. We need to stick together as moms, whatever kind of mom we
are. Supporting each other in motherhood and in life is what is important. Support each other's
decisions and be proud of the decision that you have made. Let's end the war!

Plus Size Maternity Clothing: Better Selection On Internet

Pregnant women come in many shapes and sizes, and many of them need plus size clothes and
maternity clothes that they did not require before pregnancy. There are ways to get such clothes,
although they are not as easy to locate as maternity clothes in smaller sizes. They also tend to
cost more than other maternity clothes.
Women are no longer Barbie dolls. With larger women in the marketplace, the demand for better
quality plus size clothing at a good price has increased. The availability of plus size clothing
has grown because competitive markets have responded to this demand with an increased selection
and more value pricing.
Specialty plus size clothing has become easier to find due to an increase in demand. This means
that large women can shop for a plus size bra, a plus size nursing bra or a plus size maternity
bra, or any combination they need. Before, larger women had few choices in terms of a bra that
didn't fit too closely or a bra that could easily be used to breastfeed.
Do keep in mind that many large size garments fit rather loosely and that you may find you don't
really require maternity garments for many months of your pregnancy. If you select fashions that
are loose and have elasticized waists, you can not only purchase garments that do not cost as
much, but you can also wear those items after you have given birth to your child.
Shopping online is real boon for all plus size clothing, but for maternity wear, it opens up a
much bigger selection universe than even large cities will have. There are websites now who
specialize in pregnancy wear for women over size 12 and it's much easier to compare prices. In
brands you know, choosing the right size is usually not hard, but be careful about exchange and
refund rules just in case.
Another possibility for plus size clothing for bargain hunters, pregnant or not, is that found in
auctions. Garage sales and resale shops have plus sizes more and more often now at huge savings.
Another possibility that always is worth doing is trading with friends and relatives who wear
similar sizes. Some plus forums and bulletin boards will have clothing sales and swaps sections,
which not only can save money but may also mean less boring wardrobes by trading.
You should start a special bulletin board for exchanges of larger maternity clothes, if you
cannot find one in your area. Indeed, this may be an opportunity to start a profitable home-based
business brokering sales and exchanges of clothes for larger women, including maternity clothing.
For larger women bearing children, the Internet makes many resources easily available.

Cheap Lingerie Without The Cheap Look

Men spend a lot of money trying to find ways to make their loved ones even prettier than they
are. To find a look that flatters what his mate has and hides the things she doesn't like about
herself can make everyone feel good. But what can be even better is finding cheap lingerie that
looks like it cost a million dollars. Even now that's not an easy task. But with an increase in
online lingerie shops, it's getting easier.
Cheap lingerie might be a misnomer. Even lingerie on sale is typically higher in cost than a pair
of pants. But there are places and times where men can find lower-priced lingerie. Clearance bins
at the local department store is one place to look. These bins hold the pieces that got
overstocked, or failed to sell for some reason. As such, they may not be silk or satin lingerie
with frills or extras. But they can still make a good gift for someone who has not become
accustomed to higher-priced lingerie. Another place to look for low-price lingerie is online.
With the myriad of lingerie storefronts on the Internet, there are inevitably going to be those
pieces that arrive to the seller defective or tagged with the wrong size. Some will sell returns
for a percentage off. And with all of the competition online, there will always be a shop here or
there that is going out of business and needs to get rid of its inventory, for whatever customers
are willing to pay.
There are as many styles of cheap lingerie as there are body types in the world. Two distinct
purposes of lingerie are to enhance the body's natural beauty and to shape and modify parts of
the body that need help. Corsets, bustiers, bras, garters and the like are shapers. They can make
the breasts appear larger and more shapely. They can also slim the waist and bring out curves
that are just barely there. Teddys, camis, baby dolls and other similar styles of lingerie can
enhance the body's natural shape. They often cover the torso, and come in either one-piece suits
or a set with a top and panties.
Movies have made popular the silky, soft and lacy lingerie, but it can be made of a variety of
fabrics. Leather and velvet are popular choices for those looking to go against the grain. Cotton
and other more 'comfortable' fabrics have made a recent appearance to cater to women with
"discomfort phobia." Lycra, a stretchy material related to spandex, is popular among men's
lingerie and increasingly with women's bodysuits.
As the quality of it continues to increase, cheap lingerie isn't just for the financially
burdened. As many a cheapskate has said, why spend a fortune to buy the name brand, when you can
get a knockoff for half the price? Purchasing lingerie on clearance can be a great investment, if
buyers are willing to accept the imperfections. Trying a piece of lingerie on before buying can
keep sizing mistakes from becoming an issue. And a simple inspection of the hems and fabric will
minimize any chance of getting a piece that will have to be donated to Goodwill.

Where To Find Cheap Online Lingerie

There is no shortage of lingerie shops online today. Not too long ago, they were scattered in
dark corners of alleys and hidden in out-of-the way places. Somehow, the Internet has validated a
lot of businesses that would otherwise find themselves skirting society's boundaries. Cheap
online lingerie can be found in any corner of the online apparel industry, whether from a
specialty shop or a local department store website. Some high-class lingerie companies sell cheap
brands online to widen their audience, in addition to gathering profit for their flawed or
otherwise unwanted merchandise.
To find cheap online lingerie, simply search. Just about every lingerie seller will have bargain
bins. They will mark down those styles that have reached public saturation. Lingerie companies
can still profit from these by moving their sale to other areas of the country or world.
If you buy bargain lingerie online, inspect the picture and description of it carefully as
permitted. Make sure that if you are going to buy from a company you're not familiar with, you
read the return policy thoroughly. It is likely that your bargain lingerie will be flawed in one
way or another. This might be minor design problem. A piece being labeled with the wrong size, or
a small tear. The fabric might just be unevenly cut.
The advantages of buying lingerie cheaply online can be one of attitude. Some women aren't
seductive. They don't feel attractive. They are shy. They may even be body-phobic. Having the
choice to buy lingerie online, discreetly, gives them the chance to find some of their innate
sexiness. Plus-sized women often feel self-conscious walking through a lingerie shop. They see
the thin models and body-baring styles and get scared. But online, they can browse the selection
and the price in the comfort of their own homes. And since most lingerie companies ship their
merchandise in plain brown boxes, nobody needs to know. This goes the same for men searching for
lingerie for that loved one. Many men don't particularly want to go into a Victoria's Secret and
walk around. Online lingerie stores allow them to search as much as they want. And if they decide
to go for a cheap piece of lingerie, they don't have to see the shop clerk. They don't have to
see the accusation. The voice saying: "That's not all you're going to spend on her, is it?"
The kinds and styles of cheap online lingerie vary from storefront to storefront. Many of the
cheap selections will be made of cotton or polyester, but you may be fortunate and find a real
silk set. They may not have the lace or the frills, but they will probably look tasteful and
attractive. Lingerie that covers the torso can be inexpensive; styles like the camisole, chemise,
or teddy. Invariably, however, you'll be able to find more provocative items. These might include
crotch-less panties, g-strings and thongs. Lingerie of all different sizes, colors and styles are
scattered about the Internet. All you have to do is look and you can find the cheaper varieties
of most lingerie.

Bridal Lingerie Explained

A wedding gown is the centerpiece of a wedding. But if the gown is the centerpiece, the lingerie is the largest flower in the centerpiece. Without the right lingerie, a wedding dress doesn't fit the theme. Who would think to wear cotton panties and a simple bra underneath a wedding dress? Bridal lingerie can make or break the effects of a wedding dress. Different styles of lingerie can enhance or hide parts of the body that the bride feels are prominent. What type of lingerie a bride gets depends on the style and length of the wedding gown. The choice also varies with the bride's body shape. Dresses that show some skin, or shorter dresses, will need an "invisible" undergarment that doesn't get in the way. Women who wear strapless dresses cannot wear a bra. In this case, adhesive cups or breast petals are tasteful and attractive. Breast petals cover the nipple and center of the breast. They can be made of polyester or silicone gel, and ensure that nothing comes through the gown that doesn't belong. For women who need to enhance their breasts, a bustier or push-up bra can do wonders to make them appear larger and fuller. Bridal lingerie is reminiscent of the old corset/bustier style of the Victorian Era. But unlike the old style, newer types actually emulate comfort. They also offer the control that brides need underneath all that fancy ribbon and lace. Modern corsets tighten and form the waistline. They can be of a lace-up style or made from naturally stretchy material like spandex. Bustiers are also popular wedding lingerie. They emphasize and control the bust. And a simple pair of panty hose or control-top panties can support and tighten the rear. It is usually the maid of honor who chooses the bridal lingerie. However, she only chooses lingerie for the wedding day itself. Sometimes the wedding night. It will be up to the bride to choose lingerie for the honeymoon. Each occasion will dictate a different kind of lingerie, since each has its own emotional context. For the wedding ceremony, lacy or patterned fabrics are not recommended. They can show through the gown, making it look somewhat sloppy and distasteful. Seamless undergarments and thongs are good for those who are comfortable in them. Especially if the bride wears a short dress or one that reveals the panty line. A bodysuit that covers both the breast and the torso will serve as a slimming garment, if the wedding dress is thin. Finding bridal lingerie is a very important job. The bride will be wearing the wedding lingerie for more than twelve hours. She will need something that is comfortable while still being classy. Lingerie for the wedding night is easier to choose. No one but the bride and her new husband will see this lingerie. It's all about romance. Frilly, lacy lingerie is sexy and provocative without heading into pornographic. For the honeymoon, pornographic is good. Almost expected. But the theme doesn't have to be taken too far. The maid outfits and the fishnet stockings should be spared for later, when men and women need to spice up their sex lives, not on the honeymoon, when sex is most of the reason for celebrating!

The Three-Ring Circus: 5 Tips for Single Moms Who Work

If you're a single mom who works, you probably don't have a lot of time to read, so let's get right to the point. In addition to your salaried work, you're a chauffer, a nurse, a psychotherapist, and an educator. It's as though you're not only the ringleader of your family, but you're also the master juggler (of schedules), the tightrope walker (of finances), the lion tamer (of behavior), and the trapeze artist (as you swing from home to work and back again). Here are five tips to help you keep your sanity when the circus takes up permanent residence in your household. 1. Pick Your Battles As a 49-year-old single mom of a sixth grader, I'm just plain tired. It's taken me years to get over my perfectionism and realize that I have to choose my battles, both in my work and on the home front. I no longer write long missives pointing out why I was right and my co-worker was wrong. In the long run, it doesn't really matter. The earth won't stop revolving on its axis because my son wants to grow his hair past his shoulders. I'm just thankful that he's not trying for to break the Guinness record for the longest Mohawk. I've learned the hard way that it's best not to sweat the small stuff...and most of it is small stuff. 2. Set Your Boundaries Picking your battles doesn't mean you shouldn't set boundaries at work and at home. I tend to be a workaholic, so this one has been tough for me. But I've learned to say "no" when necessary, and to set firm but fair ground rules with my son. He knows what I expect, he has his routine, he understands his responsibilities, and he comes through almost all of the time. At first, it's hard to stand your ground and be the enforcer, but kids will start toeing the line and life will get much easier. 3. Use Promises Sparingly When you're a single mom, life happens. Even the best laid plans can easily go awry, and promises made are often broken. Better than anyone else, you know that kids need stability and they need to know that they can count on you. I've learned to only make promises that I know with certainty that I can keep. When my son asks if we can go to a movie on Thursday night, I may tell him that I can't promise it will be Thursday, but that we'll go by the end of the weekend. If Sunday rolls around and we haven't gone, I grab my purse and we head out the door - even if there are a dozen other things I'd rather be doing. 4. Try for Balance As a single mother, it's hard to achieve balance. Everyone and everything has needs - your kids, your kids' school, your boss, your clients, your home, your car, your pets, and so on. Sometimes it feels like I'm trying to hold a dozen ping-pong balls underwater, but inevitably one pops up. I've worked with my son to make what we call our "conscious living" list. We have a master list of fun things we want to do, projects around the house, and assorted tasks and chores. We sit down once a week and choose a couple of fun things (like playing cards or baking cookies) and a couple of projects (like cleaning behind the refrigerator or hacking at the weeds in the yard). I've found that setting an intention to do something helps me find the time to do it. At the end of the week, I'm often pleasantly surprised to discover that I've managed to spend time with my son, run errands, and get chores done around the house. 5. Let Go of the Guilt As single moms, guilt is our greatest enemy. It can be paralyzing, can distract us from our work, and can put distance between us and our children. Our lives may not have turned out the way we intended, but we have to let ourselves off the hook. We're doing the best we can with the physical, emotional, and financial resources we have. As long as we love our children fiercely and without reservation, they'll make it and we'll make it. And, ultimately, we'll be glad the circus came to town.

Pregnancy And Various Kinds Of Ovarian Cysts

One woman described how she'd had two miscarriages already. The first one was at 21 weeks, the second was at eight weeks. And she found out during her second pregnancy that she had a dermoid cyst on her right ovary. And she writes in that we consulted a doctor that said it wasn’t the cause of my miscarriage, and can I still try getting pregnant? It was almost a year passed since I had my second miscarriage, and I'm trying to get pregnant, but what I just observed with myself now is I can't get pregnant as easily now like before, any advice? First of all, the first advice is she had two miscarriages, miscarriages are extremely common. Twenty percent of all pregnancies miscarry before 12 weeks, it's nature's way of ridding vaginetic products. The miscarriage at 21 weeks was rather unusual. I'm assuming that this was something that was looked into, and probably was not a cause of anything that would repeat itself. The dermoid cyst on her right ovary, well if she knows she had a dermoid cyst on the right ovary, that must have been removed. We were probably given part of the information because no doctor's going to leave a dermoid cyst. As far as her so-called - her concerns about infertility since that dermoid cyst, pregnancy is not as easy as one thinks. Pregnancy - the average couple who have intercourse the average number of times, which is 2.5 times per week will conceive 90 percent of the time in one year, in two years 95 percent. But you still have ten percent that are not going to conceive in one year. So one year of lack of conception is not an infertility concern in my mind. So my advice is just continue trying, don’t worry about the cyst, and hopefully pregnancy number three will be absolutely normal. Let's see, there was something else here. Oh, there is an increasing number of women - since we mentioned some drugs, we should mention Tamoxifen. Tamoxifen is an anti-breast cancer drug, the most commonly used. Women are often on it five years, very effective. The good news is Tamoxifen works, being an anti-estrogen effect on the breast, it stops the estrogen receptors. Because breast tumors many times have - they like estrogen. So this particular anti-cancer drug works by blocking estrogen. But it has some good news too, it has a positive estrogen effect on bone and on the heart. And we know that estrogen can be good for bone growth, that's why many women are given estrogens after menopause. And it can be good on bone growth and prevent heart disease. The one problem with women on this particular drug though is that it causes in some cases a slight increase in uterus cancers, because it has the positive estrogen effect on the uterus. And it can in some cases increase any cysts that are there. But to my knowledge there is no evidence that it can cause ovary cancers. So we have some effects from this powerful anti-breast cancer drug that are positive, no ovary bad effects except it can cause an increased size in the cysts. And these would be managed like any other cysts. I think one thing here is - one woman writes in and she says is surgery a must for a cyst measuring 20 centimeters? 20 centimeters is huge. Greater than 10 centimeters is huge. The answer is unequivocally 20-centimeter cyst is in risk of torsion, it should be operated upon, no questions asked. And we don’t know the age of this woman, but the odds are most likely in her favor because it's a cyst. And the other one here is - I have one question I think is very good. Is a hysterectomy the best option for an ovary cyst on a 68-year-old woman, any other options? I'm going to answer that because I'm from the school of thought that says if you're going in for a hysterectomy in the menopausal years, I believe those ovaries should come out. Now this is Doctor Christopher Freville’s philosophy, many colleagues agree with me, some do not. But the ovary has very little function after menopause. At menopause it doesn’t have any except it can serve as a place for bad tumors and bad cysts to grow. So if for some reason one has to have a hysterectomy at the menopausal time in life, my strong recommendation would be discussed with your doctor should the ovaries come out. Because unfortunately, ovary cancers, which are not really the topic of this discussion, often don’t show up and have symptoms until they're somewhat progressed. That's something I wanted to throw in there.

The Many Complications Of Ovarian Cysts

Tubal pregnancies - this is called an ectopic. Once in a while the pregnancy develops in the tube before it makes it down and these conditions are life threatening. Most of them are not, but in the process the tube can fill up with blood and before it ruptures. And this can also appear on ultrasound as a cyst and it can feel like a cyst. Most of the time a pregnancy test will be positive, and when you combine that with the enlarged tube, well you’ve got your diagnosis and saved an emergency. We’ve talked about endometriosis, that which can be a cyst. They’re rare types of colon tumors, most of these are solid bowel abscesses, can be sometimes diverticulosis, diverticulitis. You can have abscesses that can feel - most of these, well they can feel, or present like a cyst, and they’re going to be painful. Most ovary cysts in and of themselves are not going to be causing a problem. And there are a couple of other conditions that can be mistaken for a pelvic tumor. They’re not cysts but I’m going to mention them; uterus fibroids or uterine myomas, and pelvic kidney’s. The kidney actually migrates during development. A lot of strange stuff happens to us. We’re lucky that so many of us are normal. The pelvic kidney sometimes remains in the pelvis and can feel like a tumor until the proper tests are done to identify it as a kidney. So, during the work up process all these things are considered. But, the important thing here, is that cysts themselves, in and of themselves are not going to be a problem or life threatening problem. In his white paper, New York OB/GYN Christopher Freville discusses the complications of cysts. What are the complications of the cyst? Well, first and foremost if any cyst, any of these types of cysts we talked about; the benign ones can cause a problem if they get so large that they start twisting, called torsion. And, when an ovary generally gets bigger than 10 centimeters that can be a problem. I’ve seen it less than that, but when the ovary starts twisting itself just imagine a tube with a big ball on the end and by movement or whatever this tube gets twisted and twisted. You ultimately end up shutting down the blood supply and causing that particular ovary tube, called the addnexit to loose it’s blood supply, become necrotic, which means tissue dies, and it has to be removed. Well, prior to that process it’s extremely painful. Most of the time those torsed ovaries cannot be saved. Which is not a problem because just like kidneys, just like testis, women with one ovary can have just as many babies as a woman with two ovaries and two tubes. So it doesn’t decrease the fertility by half which is a common misconception. So we’ve got torsion as a complication. Obviously the pain is a definite complication and if the pain persists, well it’s time to have something done. The complications of endometriomas of course, and polycysticomas; the most common ones are infertility. The endometriomas, if they persist, and there’s continuous bleeding in the abdomen and the ovary that can cause adhesions. Any bleeding cyst can be a problem. Any cyst can have a blood supply. Most of these, the bigger blood supplies, the bigger blood vessels on cysts are usually the corpus luteum cyst. A pregnancy with a corpus luteum, the second type of functional cyst goes on to develop as the baby is growing. The blood supply is very, very rich and they break, they burst, they rupture a vessel can pump blood into the abdomen and can be a life threatening condition. The same thing can be true with, certainly with tube pregnancies, that’s why those two can be confused. So, you can have bleeding with a cyst but most of the time those are rare circumstances. Torsion, bleeding, when it ruptures most of the time there’s going to be pain.

The Most Serious Health Concerns for Women and What You Can Do

These days, it seems women have more health concerns than ever. Perhaps they are greater in number than ever before or perhaps we are just more aware of women's issues as women are more comfortable having them brought to the forefront. One issue that continually does get the attention it deserves is breast cancer. The breast cancer statistics are alarming, and almost everyone you know has a sister or mother who has suffered from this deadly disease. If caught early enough, it does not have to be deadly. In fact, there are things you can do so that you don't get it at all. Every woman (young and old) should be checking their breasts monthly to detect for any strange lumps or any unusual signs. This can be done in the shower, with one arm raised and the other performing the checking task. Any doctor can show you the specifics on how to do this. If you do sense something suspicious, make an appointment with your doctor right away to have it looked at. The other thing you can do is be a conscious consumer; every day the FDA is coming out with new information as to what may be potential carcinogens (cancer-causing agents), from food additives to plastics to environmental hazards. Becoming aware and taking the time to be educated can make all the difference in the world. Another major health concern for women is heart disease. This continues to be the number one killer of women, actually, and it doesn't just happen to those you would suspect. When people think of heart disease, most people think of the severely obese. However, women can suffer from heart disease, high blood pressure, and clogged arteries from poor food choices, lack of exercise, and stress. Believe it or not, if you eat fast food on a regular basis and skip the gym in favor of drinks after a very stressful work day that ends at 7:00 p.m. instead of 5:00 p.m., you may be in a higher risk category than your friend who remains calm, eats a lot of healthy food choices, and practices yoga a couple times a week. If you know you are in the first group, the best thing you can do for yourself is to start making small changes. If you can't get away from a stressful job or career, make sure to step away each hour and do deep breathing exercises, and stretch your body while at work. Go to the ladies room to do it if necessary! Try to make smarter food choices, even if it means just eliminating one of your ‘junk food meals' a week. If you're not big on exercise, start with a simple walk a couple times a week and go from there. The sooner you make these changes, the healthier you will be and the less at risk for heart disease. A third issue for women and one that has been on the rise for quite some time is obesity. The "average" American woman has increased in size to a size 12 or even a size 14, with many women reaching far beyond that size. This can be unhealthy depending on your body fat percentage. While women can take some of the same steps as with heart disease discussed above, people who suffer from obesity may need to take more drastic measures in order to get their weight down. If you are obese, it is definitely time to get your diet in check so that you don't later develop heart disease, or adult diabetes, or a host of other problems from being overweight. Eating a lot of processed, artificially sweetened, or sugar and fat-laden foods is likely a habit, and one that needs to be nipped in the bud. Hand in hand with poor eating habits is exercise habits, and if you don't have any it's time to get some! It will be difficult at first, and you are likely to be winded and tired after a very short time of exertion. However, if you keep pushing through the challenging times you will soon see and feel the difference. You will notice you have more energy, as your workout time may go from ten minutes on the treadmill to fifteen to twenty. As you benefit from this greater energy, it will not only help power you through your workout sessions, but it will put a brighter spin on the rest of your life. You will find you have more energy throughout the day, and chances are you will continue to burn calories because of this. You will probably find an easier time making healthy food choices if you incorporate exercise into your fight against obesity as well. Women's issues can be the same as men's issues or they can be different. The good news is, women's health concerns get discussed more than they used to, and this gives us greater power in awareness.

Staying in Shape Over 40 - What You Need to Know

Turning 40 can be a powerful and transient event even though many women believe that everything starts to change or even fall apart at 40. This doesn't have to be so! Women can stay strong and competitive, healthy and fit well over the age of 40. There may be some changes you need to make, but it is an important time for you to make these changes so that you can continue to stay in shape. Some basic dietary changes can help you to supplement your workouts and keep you strong. Calcium, for example, has always been important in a woman's diet, but it is critical to start supplementing calcium now if you haven't already. Bone density begins to decline and if this gets really bad, it can lead to osteoporosis later in life. Ginseng is an herb that can help to give you energy when you start to feel fatigue, and some people swear it is what helps keep them young. Consuming a lot of fruits and vegetables is crucial to keeping yourself young. Not only is it very healthy for your body, it is quite beneficial for your skin as well. Natural foods, especially fruits and vegetables, are full of antioxidants, and these help keep free radicals from destroying that youthful appearance of your skin. Also good are salmon and other foods such as almonds, flax and fatty fish which provide a strong source of Omega 3 fatty acids. Again, this is good for your heart health but also for your radiant skin. Staying in shape also means getting - or staying - physical, of course. You may discover aches and pains that you haven't noticed prior to turning 40. It's not because 40 is some magical age, but rather a useful timeline to gauge when women tend to start feeling less energetic, more rigid, or have tighter muscles than they used to. A fun and relaxing antidote to this is yoga. Yoga has been said to be the true fountain of youth! A good, long yoga session a few times a week or a simple practice of ten to twenty minutes daily can relax, tone and lengthen your muscles as well as your spirit. It also helps to de-stress your mind, which has been shown to have an effect on cortisol levels in the body. By reducing cortisol, you can help reduce the belly fat that may be more stubborn to remove these days. Any time of stress-relieving mechanism you use will help keep you young, but yoga is an especially good one. If yoga isn't really your speed, pick something that is. Maybe you enjoy spinning, or a step class or kickboxing. Whatever it is, don't stop now just because you've reached that dreaded age. Keeping active now is just as important as it was when you were twenty, if not more so. If your aches and pains feel like they are preventing you from doing what you like to do best, it probably means you need to stretch more. Stretching can be a wonderful tool to keep you young and keep your muscles supple and strong. It can help prevent muscle tears and help you reach new levels of fitness by warming up the muscles and ligaments, but it can also just feel great after a nice, long bout of exercise. If you run or bike, be sure to stretch the calves and quadriceps muscles as well as the hamstrings. If you like to partake in a class at your gym and there is a lot of jumping involved, make sure to stretch the ankles as well. Simply adding ten or fifteen minutes of stretching to your daily routine can make you feel years younger if you are faithful about it. Staying in shape doesn't just mean looking good or staying in good shape on the outside. Once you reach the age of forty, keeping up with regular doctor appointments becomes more important than it was in days past. Make sure to get a mammogram and screen for early detection of breast cancer. Make an appointment with your general practitioner for a complete physical. Consult with a dermatologist, and keep regular full-body skin checkups once or twice a year, which can help screen out skin cancer and suspicious moles that may crop up. If you used to see the eye doctor once every couple of years, cut that in half and see him once annually. Unfortunately, the eyes are quick to deteriorate as you age, and you will want to keep up with these check-ups for safety reasons, to be able to keep reading, and to check for signs of glaucoma and other age-related diseases. Nobody said getting older was fun, but it does not have to be painful. The age-old adage that an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure applies to the aging process very well, and if you take these measures you too can age gracefully.

Diamond Buying: Emotional Experience Or Math Problem?

Professionals in the diamond industry hear warnings about "commoditization" at our trade conventions. We hear the warnings from traditionalists, from sellers and suppliers, from revered industry leaders. We hear the warnings from some of the most esteemed icons of our industry. But what does it mean? It is about the reduction of an emotional experience to a mere set of numbers. That is the concern. For many years diamond cutters were considered craftsmen and artists, like blacksmiths and carpenters (the best still are). As technology has moved forward, blacksmiths and carpenters have been replaced with automated manufacture. In diamond-cutting, auto-dialits and assembly line production have replaced the gray-haired cutter of old who took the rough through every step from blocking to brillianteering. However, the unalterable difference between 'smithing and diamond fashioning is that producing a diamond will never be like stamping out automobiles or pre-fabricated woodwork where pieces and parts are interchangeable. Our craft is unique. Every piece of diamond rough took millions of years to form. Every diamond is a different story. Once mined from the earth each piece of rough is individually studied and analyzed. A different plan is developed for each piece to arrive at the shape, size and beauty that will be yielded. No two diamonds are perfectly alike; not in rough form nor polished. They may be comparable, but color, clarity and even cut differ from piece to finished piece. There are subdivisions within each color grade. There are microscopic elements of crystallization within each diamond that do not appear on a plot. There are aspects to the way the diamond was run on the wheel and took a polish that blend together to create its distinctiveness when finally viewed. As we know, the cut of a diamond has the largest influence on its overall performance and can be expressed in differing terms. Proportions, cut estimators, 3D scans, natural reflectors and machines like Imagem and BrillianceScope can assign numbers. But numbers will never tell the story of the diamond's birth, its crystallization over millions of years and the blending together of distinctive elements WITHIN the numbers that make it one-of-a-kind. Traditionalists emphasize that a finished diamond is both a snowflake and an artist's masterpiece. Its uniqueness is absolute; both in nature and in the treatment man has given it. It can never be replicated - and its singular, irreplaceable distinctiveness is the perfect expression for a giver, and the most its wearer could ever hope for. The traditionalists are right of course. Now there is concern among traditionalists that by reducing a diamond to a data stream we take away its romance. We remove its symbolic appeal, distinctiveness that can be measured only by the human eye and a history larger than life - and replace them with charts and graphs. The information age has provided us with the ability to analyze the art of man and nature. We have powerful tools for measurement and analysis. We can place a number beside every facet. We can take analytic photographs at unreal magnifications. We have black boxes that assign values. For trade and factory analysts these things can empower more understanding and the ability to maximize beauty at the source. Certainly there are hundredths of degrees which can help our scientific understanding. However, any professional will tell you that once a diamond is within an acknowledged premium range the nuances of its specific appeal depend entirely on individual human taste and preference. To make such fine judgments, beauty can only be in the eyes of the beholder. Let us consider the most important people, our clients: For those who will give and receive nature's creation, crafted into shape by man's hand, we should provide technical validation to put them at ease. But for the sake of our trade we have a responsibility to put less emphasis on a decimal point and be more sensitive to our clients' appreciation for the emotional aspect of the diamond - which was his or her motivation for purchase in the first place! Let us not convert someone shopping for a work of art & love into someone shopping for a tenth of a degree on crown facet number 8. To do so reduces the emotional experience to a math problem and reduces the meaningfulness of the service our trade can provide to our clients. A healthy marriage of lab grading, parametric data and direct performance assessment should be enough for even the internet shopper's desire for pedigree. By all means, provide validation our clients need to be comfortable in a purchase, but ultimate beauty is in the eye of the beholder. It is important for us to remember that when all is said and done it will be sparkle, not statistics, which cause the wearer to love the piece.

5 Simple Tips To Fix 5 Mistakes We Almost All Make When We Put On Makeup

Have you ever been putting on your makeup and when everything is going well, you suddenly make a mistake that ruins all of your effort? Have you had to take off your makeup some time because, without meaning to, you’ve ruined your makeup? Surely you have; it happens to all of us.
In this article, you will find five of the most common mistakes and the best tips to quickly fix them without having to take off all of your makeup…
We hope you’ll like them and that they’ll help you easily improve your personal image…
“I’VE PUT ON TOO MUCH FOUNDATION”
This is a very common mistake that we all make when we put on makeup. If you are totally made up, to take off any excess foundation, do the following:
• Lightly moisten a clean sponge with water (the sponge should be almost dry and without any makeup residue) and sponge all of your face with downward movements.
TIP: It’s very important, most of all, to avoid excess foundation and concealer around the eyes. To eliminate any excess in this area, perform the same step and afterwards use your fingertips to softly blur the product in that area.
“MY EYESHADOW LOOKS TOO DARK”
If you’ve put on too much eyeshadow, or it looks too dark, follow these steps to quickly fix the problem:
• If it happened on your upper eyelid, blur the eyeshadow toward the edges with a clean brush to reduce the color. If it still looks very dark, apply a little bit of matte cream eyeshadow with a brush (if you don’t have cream eyeshadow, you can use translucent powder) and blur the eyeshadow.
• If it happened on the lower part of your eye, use a fine, clean brush to blur, or pat it softly with a Q-tip.
• If as you were blurring, you’ve left the contour of the eyelid and the shadow looks very dark, blur it with a clean sponge and afterwards apply a little bit of foundation, patting lightly to fix the foundation.
“I’VE PUT ON TOO MUCH BLUSH”
If you applied too much blush, try the following tip:
• Stroke your cheek with a thick, loose powder bush—the brush should be completely clean. If you still have too much blush on, apply translucent or clear powder with the same brush, just over the blush. That way the two powders should mix, clarifying the original color.
“I’VE PUT TOO MUCH MAKEUP ON MY EYEBROWS”
When we put too much makeup on our eyebrows, we look harsh and we can’t even recognize ourselves. Follow the following tip to quickly solve this:
• Simply brush the eyebrow with a clean Q-tip, going against the grain of your eyebrow. You will see how quickly the color you initially applied disappears.
“I’VE SMEARED MASCARA ON MY EYELID”
That’s all right. Just follow these next steps and you’ll see how you can quickly fix the problem:
• Continue applying makeup and when you have finished, allowing enough time for the mascara to dry, apply a Q-tip right over the smudge. You’ll see how it quickly disappears and you don’t need to remove the makeup from your whole eye.
TIP: A good trick to avoid smudging yourself is applying makeup first to your inferior eyelashes and then to the superior.

Evening Wear Shopping Tips

Don’t let shopping for that special evening dress intimidate you! With a little help, you can start early and find the perfect dress for evening out. Here’s how:
Decide on the formality. Is it cocktail or evening attire? Cocktail and evening attire is dressier – think little black dress. Long dresses are reserved for formal black-tie affairs.
The most important feature of your new dress is it’s style and color. Not every dress works for all body types. Dress to flatter your figure. If you aren’t sure what is your best asset, ask a friend or salesperson.
Once you know the type of dress, now choose a style. Instead of going trendy, select a dress that reflects classic, timeless elegance. Here are some styles to choose from.
Halter Dresses are one of the sexiest formal looks around. Several version exist including a tie-behind-the-neck look. Straps vary in size, width and fabrics. A halter dress draws attention to the upper half of the body including the face, shoulders and bust line. This is great to draw unwanted attention away from the hips and legs. Skip the necklace and opt for earrings when wearing a halter dress.
Cocktail dresses are the most versatile for special occasions. Most opt for the little black dress which is the most popular look for a cocktail. Today, jewel-tones, bright and rich fabrics do well for a short evening dress. Most cocktail dresses can be easily accessorized with pearls, diamond, gold and silver. If you want to hide wide hips, opt for a dress that is strapless or has cap sleeves.
For simplicity, nothing beats a sheath dress. They are flattering with clean lines to keep the dress from overwhelming your figure. The sheath dress can be dressed up or down as the situation dictates.
The jacket dress provides more coverage without the fuss of a wrap. The matching dress and jacket is perfect for anniversaries and weddings.
Not every figure looks best in a one piece dress. For those hard-to-fit bodies, a dressy separate can do the trick. Choose one special piece and mix it with a solid piece for that special occasion.
Off the shoulder dresses instantly shows off lots of skin but not in areas that make you uncomfortable. Accentuate the look with a great necklace piece or brooch.

Fashion Forward 2008 - The Top Hot Fashion Trends

You probably can't recall who said it, but whoever first uttered that fashion comes full circle every 30 years or so was not too far off. This season on the runway is reminiscent of the flowing 70s in both fabric and style. We are seeing much more of the long skirt and much less of the micro mini. Materials like silk and chiffon, which tend to flow and gather, are much more popular for Spring 2008 than fabrics like cotton or denim which tend to hold shape and stay stiffer in appearance. The word for the season is feminine, feminine, feminine! The exception to this seems to be in outerwear, where rubber is oddly back in style. Indoors, though, thin little belts, hats, and scarves are also popular and a throwback to the 70s as well as being womanly. Don't despair, though - some things from last season are still popular and can be recycled for this season. Accessories like metallic bags and clutches, as well as sequins and some of the longer pencil skirts can still be worn with confidence. Dresses with color blocks are still around as well, left over from last season and still cute. Headbands are still a popular accessory as well. Sheers are in this year as a fabric style, which works well with the flow-y nature of the season. Pairing a sheer shirt over a camisole with denim jeans is a great casual look. In fact, a sheer scarf works with almost anything this season. Especially cute is the above-mentioned shirt and jeans with a little scarf and dressy sneakers. "Dressy sneakers" are another big hit this year, which will keep your feet happy as you get to be comfortable and stylish at the same time. Low-lying, patterned variety sneakers with ties that sport the best of brand names are the most popular for the young trendsetter. Speaking of patterns, big bold prints such as tropical themes and jungle prints are back. For whatever reason, and it seems to happen every several years, tribal and jungle themes like leopard prints and zebra stripes make their way back to the runway. This year is no exception. Color is back, and black is out, at least for now. Last year, brown was the new black, and this year it is muted silver and grey that's all the rage when you want to opt for a non-color. What about shoes, you ask? Pointy-toe pumps are back! Not that they ever really went out of style, but they certainly came second to the flip flop, the ballet slipper, and other such cutesy flat footwear, along with the rounded toe pump. Also noteworthy is what's in store for later on in the season. Fall 2008 promises to be chock full of the "bigger is better" theory. Bigger, chunkier heels, bigger, longer boots, and bigger and heavier accessories on the shoes themselves such as thick buckles and chains should be on your radar for footwear. Of course, if we are going to talk shoes we must talk shades. Still popular, especially with the Divas, are the ever-present round and dark sunglasses that cover most of your face. The celebrities, of course, brought this trend to the forefront of fashion and it doesn't look like it's going anywhere anytime soon. Also popular though, is the blue lens which seemed to disappear for a while. This lens is more appropriate with a smaller frame than with the oversized shades discussed. The RayBan Wayfarers, so popular in the 80s, also seem to be making a comeback this year. Last but by no means least, there could not be a fashion article written about what's hot for 2008 without mentioning jeans. Designer denim continues to be the hottest thing around. We all know that True Religion, Citizens of Humanity, Buffalo, Seven for all Mankind and Lucky have become standard, almost run-of-the mill designer jeans. Even though they cost upward of $200.00, they are still the 'norm'. Slightly more pricey is Diesel, and this brand continues to be popular as well. Relative newcomers, though, are some of the names that were actually around long before these newbies even existed. Yves St. Laurent, Donna Karan, and some of the more elite designer's names are being plastered on the derrieres of the most discriminating fashionistas this season. As for jean style and cut, the zipper-ankle and straight-leg varieties that were popular in the 80s are making a comeback. Expect to see them on the legs of the trendsetters this fall. This season proves to be an interesting and eclectic mix of 70s and 80s styles. This may seem contradictory, but the feminine nature of the season's styles pulls from flowing 70s fabrics and cuts and seems to just use a hint of 80s metal and accessory - and it's a hit.

Fashion Hype

Every new season brings new hype to the fashion world. This season’s top hottie is the new “skinny jeans.” These are the jeans from long ago when May Tyler Moore wore these slim cut pants on the Dick Van Dyke Show. Designers claim that all shapes and sizes can wear these jeans. The skinny jeans are make with lycra that stretch, hold you in and still be able to move freely. These amazing jeans come with a price, and boy will it cost you. Top end stores will be selling them anywhere from $100.00 – $300.00. Ouch! This price certainly is an eyesore to people on a budget. They will have to wait for markdowns that may take a while. Budget conscious people may have to opt for the same style of jeans with more affordable labels. Levi’s will be coming out with a much more reasonably priced jean ranging from $25.00-$50.00. As top models contend for the fashion spotlight, I have yet to see a person out of proportion wearing these jeans. Top designers always use the prettiest models with the best build. What about the average person? Not all are built with the best body, but want a shot to share the limelight modeling the best in fashion or see someone with not so perfect body wearing top fashions by the top designers. Fashions, being universal, let out an excitement that is almost electric. “This seasons fashions by the best designers Oscar de la Renta, Bill Blass and Max Azea always top the charts with their signature fashions. From Europe to America every country has its own flare for fashion. From sexy to tame designers have us drooling for more. Months of planning and art layout and photography are now ready to be put in print with the most famous models on the magazine covers with the latest fashions for all the world to see. A funny thing about fashion is that it has come full circle. Capri pants, ruffles, bell-bottoms, and now the return of the “skinny jeans” to name just a few have made a huge comeback.

Pink Diamonds: A Girl's Best Friend?

I've got a confession to make. I am a man and I like diamonds. I know what you are thinking: that I'm Liberace. Well, no. I'm not Liberace. I don't even play the piano. But I like diamonds just as much as anyone else. However, one of the things I noticed is that online, it is very difficult to find information on pink (and other colored) diamonds.
Let's take a look at a whole bunch of reasons that pink diamonds are considered some of the nicest diamonds on the face of the earth and why people go to extremes to buy them.
1) Rarity. Nothing has really changed all that much in the last 100 years. People still like rare items for the very fact that they are rare. If no one else has something, then people are much likely to want it. Call it attention, call it what you will, but rare items always seem to be much more valuable than plane items. The same holds true with jewelry and pink diamonds are no exception. Pink diamonds are fairly rare items to get a hold of. Pink diamonds are off color: nature doesn't seem make them that often. However, man has altered diamonds, and man made (or man altered) pink diamonds can be found being offered by different jewelers. They won't sell for nearly the price that natural pink diamonds will, but they exist.
2) Style. Pink diamonds have been seen in recent years being sported by J Lo and some of the most famous celebrities in the world. They are definitely in with the in crowd. Given that pink diamonds are in style, you can expect to pay a little bit more for them as well. We don't think that pink diamonds are going to go out of style anytime soon, so if you are shopping for them, don't be surprised to see a high price tag given the amount of celebrities who love them these days.
3) Luxury. Pink diamonds are still diamonds. And people love luxury items as much as they ever did. Pink can stand for luxury. Diamonds spell luxury. The two combine to give quite a fancy name to themselves.
These 3 point are merely introductory: learn how to pros buy pink diamonds. Find out how to do it correctly and save a bundle.

The History And Purpose Of Womens Lingerie

Lingerie has a long and prosperous history as enhancers of the female form. It is believed that the first example of lingerie for women originated in the Mediterranean. This was two thousand years before Christ. The field of womens lingerie has grown and flourished ever since. Now, it is popular among all classes of people. It appears all around the world. It is also a multi-million dollar industry, with newer styles and functions appearing on a regular basis. There are two different classes of lingerie for women. One style enhances what women already have. Another style hides what women don't want to have. Bustiers and corsets can fit in both classes. Corsets have a slimming effect, making the waist appear smaller and curvier. Bustiers push up the breasts, enhancing and forming the bust. Bras are a type of women's lingerie, although they have been so mainstreamed as to be a normal addition to most women's closets. Bras can serve many functions. They support women with bigger busts, aiding in back support. They can pull up drooping breasts, and enhance with gel and other fillers. With a pair of matching panties, bras can also attract. Lingerie has come a long way from the days of burlesque. Seedy motels and back alley shops were the breeding ground of lingerie back then, when men with insatiable appetites went to Burlesque shows to see their fantasies enacted on stage. Women with skimpy or stringy clothing danced. Some took pieces of their clothing off and taunted the men with them. Now, women can do the same thing for their own men, without the inhibition of those older days. Womens lingerie has come into the light, and there exist many gorgeous and tasteful pieces. And what is not tasteful is acceptable in other circles and with other purposes. The g-strings, thongs, backless panties and fishnet stocking with leather are a look that serves to sell sex. This sex sells between a couple in the bedroom or on the pages of Playboy. Some popular styles of women's lingerie include: Camis: These sleeveless tops usually include spaghetti straps and flow over the body. They sometimes include matching panties. Chemise: A short, straight nightgown, light and soft. Teddy: Imagine wearing a loose-fitting bathing suit with frills and lace. Baby Doll: A particular style of lingerie. This was invented in a 1950's movie of the same name. It is a very short nightgown that accentuates the bust. It stops just above the hips and usually comes with panties. The fabric floats away from the body, while it clasps around the bust. Kimonos and negligees: These are not lingerie, per se, but can be worn over top of it. For women who chill easily in the shorter pieces, this can make the difference between whether they wear lingerie or not. Womens lingerie was originally made from silk and satin. It represented sexuality and comfort. Now lingerie is made of a lot of different fabrics, each with its own meaning. Leather lingerie denotes danger and carries with it a rebellious attitude. Velvet lingerie is soft and exotic. Cotton is for modern women who dislike frilly, sassy clothing. Lycra, a relative of spandex, is used for a sporty, tight-fitting look.

Tips On Choosing Chic Spring Fashions You Want To Know

When the snow starts to melt and flowers begin to dot the scenery, you know it is spring! What better way to celebrate the coming of the season with packing away your heavy winter sweaters and coats and welcoming the spring season in with pastel colors, feminine prints, and gauzy clothing? When it comes time to plan your spring wardrobe, it may be tempting to run around in thin, flutter sleeve shirts and flirty skirts, but your local weather may not allow it. Keep your physical weather in mind before you buy silky tops, cropped pants, and flippant skirts—finding yourself out in the cold!
Many places in the country equate spring with rain. If you live in an area where the March, April, and May showers mean summertime flowers, then take this into account when choosing your spring fashion wardrobe. Consider purchasing a fantastic rain jacket, cute rain hat, or fantastic umbrella to warm off the wet weather and remain dry. Also, the trend here of recent allows individuals to wear brightly patterned galoshes with everyday clothing in order to protect your tootsies from the puddles.
If you area allows warmer clothing to be ushered in with the spring season, then do not hold back! Choose strappy heels that will provide your feet with a much needed break from stuffy boots. Do not forget to treat yourself to that lovely pedicure and paint your tootsies a lovely pastel shade of pink. Find flirty dresses, skirts, and tops that are one hundred percent feminine and spring-like. You may need to look into a couple of cardigans to cover up on the chilly days, but look for one with pretty trim like lace or crochet. Finally, lighten up from those heavy wool pants and choose lightweight trousers that are crisply pressed and khaki in color.
However, many of us live in areas where spring only means winter with a few more flowers. If you find yourself stuck in winter, even though spring has arrived, change your state of mind. Even though you may still need those heavy coats, perk it up with a brightly colored faux flower corsage. Look into swapping out those dark winter colors for light springtime colors like pinks, green, purples, white, cream, and blues. If you find you need those winter boots, still treat yourself to a pedicure to perk up your tootsies to feel more spring like on the inside.
